About Me

My name is Christopher William Pisar and I am 26 years old. I was born in Bakersfield, Ca, an agricultural city located approximately two hours north of the USC campus. I come from a large Italian family who owns a local beverage distributor. I am an avid sports fan and that’s putting it lightly. I follow the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles

Lakers, and San Francisco 49ers religiously. All of my hobbies revolve around the sporting world. The things that I enjoy most are watching sports, attending live sporting events, golfing and fishing.

I began my pursuit of a higher education in 2002, one year removed from high school. I attended Bakersfield College, the local junior college, for three years where I obtained an Associates of Art in Communication. It was here that I took the beginning journalism course that sparked my interest and career aspirations. Shorty thereafter, I began working at the student newspaper, the Renegade RIP, where I wrote opinions and recaps for the sports section. I parlayed that into a gig at the local paper, the Bakersfield Californian, where I covered high school football and baseball.

The next leg of my journey took me to Santa Barbara, UC Santa Barbara to be exact. During my time at UCSB, I gained valuable experience at KCSB, the student radio station. It was there that I got my first taste of the airwaves doing a variety of things from programming, hosting, reporting, and play by play/color commentary. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Art in Communication, I moved to Los Angeles where I began working as a production assistant for Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket. My job may not be glamorous but it has provided me with invaluable real world experiences that I might not have gotten elsewhere. From writing scripts and promos, to cutting highlights and editing video, I have learned a great deal. Now I am in the midst of the Master’s program here at Annenberg where I hope to take the next step in my career. After my time at USC, I hope to turn my vast knowledge and skill set into a job in sports broadcasting, preferably doing play by play for a professional baseball team.
